Bonjour! My goodness I had no idea it had been so long since my last post! I hadn’t intentionally stopped writing I have simply been caught up with life which as I’m sure you can understand gets very busy and hectic at times, especially when you live with three men!! That’s a lot of testosterone in this house lol…..I’ve also been hit with the flu so I haven’t been doing much since the weekend except resting, trying to sleep (like that’s possible when you’re full of the flu!) and learning to relinquish control over the house lol….lets just say the guys are doing a good job of looking after me but I’m sure I’ll be finding things where they don’t belong for at least a week once I’m better. C’est la vie…at least I have them here to look after me.
So, obviously I haven’t been sick for three months so I’m sure you’re wondering what I must’ve been doing all this time but if not that’s fine and I’ll tell you anyway. A few months ago I was op shopping (thrifting) with my mum when I found a replica mid century modern valet minus the hanger part for jackets. Despite missing the hanger I could see the potential in the piece and knew it would still make a great storage option for an entryway or even bathroom. It took me a hot minute to decide how I was going to revamp it but I decided on a blending technique and I’ll show the results in another post soon.
I’ve also been working on a bedside table transformation for my mum who’s the client this time. Again I’ll share pics in a future post but I’ve been busy turning this piece from old tired looking pine to a light and fresh look and it’s coming along beautifully. I had hoped to have it all finished by this weekend but as I said, I’ve been hit with the flu so hopefully I can get back to it next week.
We in the furniture painting community have had some bad news too. Our beloved Bec from Paint & Gather is closing her shop for a new adventure and from the end of August her shop will be no more. For the last two years I’ve gotten to know Bec really well and even had the opportunity to look after the shop for a bit last year while Bec took a break so it’s with a heavy heart this will probably be one of my last posts that talks about Bec’s shop. But if you’re in the Perth area and need some painting supplies then pop over to Paint & Gather at 1 Essex St Wembley and give Bec some love and tell her Michelle sent you 😉
And on the upside, the Horn sewing cabinet I revamped finally sold and went to it’s forever home on the weekend. The lady who bought it was so excited and loved everything about it. Nothing makes me happier than when someone loves a piece as much as I do. It lets you know the truly see and acknowledge all the time and effort that goes into revamping a piece and giving it a second chance at being loved.
Well, that’s all from me for now but stay tuned because I will absolutely be back soon to share more projects with you. Thanks for sticking around and don’t forget to go show Bec some love.
À bientôt….Michelle x
